Baseball Splits their Doubleheader with Mt. Hood

In an exciting Game 1 showdown on April 3, 2025, Mt. Hood Community College faced off against Chemeketa Community College, ultimately falling short with a final score of 5-3. The game took place at Storm Field and drew an attendance of 175 fans.
The first two innings saw Mt. Hood take an early lead, scoring three runs in the second inning. H. Foreman was hit by a pitch, allowing D. Trujilo to score. Z. Blair contributed with a fielder's choice that brought H. Allen across the plate, and with a steal, he helped D. Richards score, putting Mt. Hood ahead 3-0.
Chemeketa began their comeback in the bottom of the second inning. N. Crawford's sacrifice fly allowed C. Leming to score, narrowing Mt. Hood's lead to 3-1. The third inning proved pivotal as Chemeketa surged ahead, scoring four runs. J. Genduso's double brought E. Blackhawk home, followed by an unearned run from W. Hooper due to a fielding error. N. Crawford capped off the inning with a single that brought in two more runs, giving Chemeketa a 5-3 lead.
Despite Mt. Hood's attempts to rally, they were unable to convert their opportunities into runs for the remainder of the game. C. Waples, the starting pitcher for Mt. Hood, took the loss after pitching five innings and allowing six hits and five runs (three earned). O. Combs finished strong with three scoreless innings in relief.
On the other side, T. Brenneman earned the win for Chemeketa, pitching 6.2 innings and allowing three runs on three hits. Ja. Klee came in for the save, sealing the victory with a strong performance in the final 2.1 innings.

Chemeketa regained the lead shortly thereafter, scoring again in the sixth inning courtesy of a single from C. Leming that allowed W. Hooper to advance and J. Genduso to cross the plate. With the game 2-1 in favor of Chemeketa, Mt. Hood took control in the seventh inning, scoring six runs. Z. Blair's walk opened the floodgates, leading to a series of hits and a couple of errors by Chemeketa, culminating in a significant lead of 7-2.
Chemeketa managed to score once more in the eighth inning with a home run from L. Kreisberg, but it was not enough to overcome Mt. Hood's advantage.
On the pitching front, Mt. Hood's T. Sato delivered a strong performance, throwing six innings, allowing three hits, and striking out three batters, earning him the win. M. Fitzgerald closed the game, allowing just one run over three innings. For Chemeketa, W. Rose started strong, but ultimately, the relief from J.
