In a decisive game 1 on April 5, 2025, Mt. Hood Community College triumphed over Chemeketa Community College with a commanding score of 10-3. This matchup, held at Mt. Hood, featured an impressive offensive display from the home team, improving their record to 7-19-1 while Chemeketa fell to 15-15.
The game began slowly, with Chemeketa scoring first in the second inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by J. Vaccaro, bringing W. Hooper home for a 1-0 lead. However, Mt. Hood responded emphatically in their half of the second inning, scoring four runs. A. Henry's double allowed H. Allen to cross the plate, and K. Slater followed with a three-RBI double, scoring C. Wynn, A. Elliott, and A. Henry, giving Mt. Hood a 4-1 lead.
Mt. Hood continued their offensive surge in the third inning, with H. Foreman driving in Y. Kumagami and A. Henry tripling to score Foreman, pushing the score to 6-1. The fourth inning saw Mt. Hood add to their lead further, with H. Allen doubling to bring K. Slater home, and additional runs driven in by Foreman and Henry, culminating in a commanding 9-1 lead.
Chemeketa attempted to make a late-game rally, scoring two runs in the ninth inning, with E. Blackhawk and C. Leming contributing RBIs. However, it was not enough to overcome Mt. Hood's substantial lead.
On the pitching side, N. McCormack earned the win for Mt. Hood, going seven innings and allowing just one run on six hits while striking out two. R. Hill came in for the final two innings, giving up two runs but sealing the victory for his team. Chemeketa's A. Yost suffered the loss after struggling through three innings, allowing six runs on seven hits.
In a commanding performance in Game 2, Chemeketa Community College defeated Mt. Hood Community College with a score of 7-2 in the second game of a doubleheader. The game, held at Oslund Field, showcased Chemeketa's offensive strength and solid pitching, improving their record to 16-15, while Mt. Hood fell to 7-20-1.
Chemeketa struck first in the second inning, taking advantage of a wild pitch that allowed N. Crawford to score. They quickly added another run when J. Genduso singled through the left side, bringing J. Vaccaro home for a 2-1 lead. Mt. Hood battled back in the bottom of the second, tying the game at 2-2 with a single from A. Elliott that scored H. Foreman.
However, Chemeketa responded with authority in the third inning, scoring three runs. W. Hooper's single allowed L. Kreisberg to score, and J. Vaccaro followed with a two-RBI single that brought both W. Hooper and N. Crawford home, pushing Chemeketa's lead to 5-2. The momentum continued into the fourth inning with L. Kreisberg hitting a home run, extending the lead to 6-2, followed by another run scored by B. Hubble that made it 7-2.
On the mound, Chemeketa's pitching staff was effective, with Ja. Klee earning the win after allowing just two hits and no runs over three innings. C. Stortro started but had a shaky first two innings, giving up two runs. L. Petty closed out the game, allowing no runs in the final two innings. For Mt. Hood, J. Wilcox took the loss after struggling early on, giving up five runs in just 2.1 innings.
Despite a strong effort with several hits, including multiple players with two hits each, Mt. Hood was unable to capitalize on their opportunities or mount a comeback against Chemeketa's pitching. The game highlighted Chemeketa's ability to produce runs and control the game, setting a positive tone for their upcoming matches as they strive to improve their season record.
