Storm Softball Dominates All-Region Honors; Four Named to NWAC South All-League Teams
Salem’s Finest: Noonkester, Moore, Trissell, and Carapinha Named All-Region
SALEM, Ore. — Following a historic 24-win season that saw the program reach its highest heights in over a decade, the Chemeketa Storm softball team has been rewarded with four selections to the NWAC South All-League teams. These honors reflect a season defined by offensive dominance, as the Storm's infield and battery were recognized as among the most lethal in the Northwest.
Here is a look at the standout athletes who earned All-League honors for their remarkable 2026 campaigns:
Layni Noonkester | 1st-Team All-League (Infield)
Layni Noonkester put together one of the most statistically dominant seasons in program history. A First-Team selection, Noonkester was a true "Triple Threat" in the heart of the order, leading the team with a staggering .479 batting average and an elite .929 slugging percentage. Her power was unmatched, as she crushed 20 home runs and racked up 74 RBIs—marks that placed her among the elite run-producers in the entire NWAC. With 81 hits and 58 runs scored, Noonkester was the engine that powered the Storm to their first 20-win season in 12 years.
Zoe Moore | 1st-Team All-League (Infield)
Joining her teammate on the First Team, Zoe Moore was the epitome of a "table-setter with teeth." Moore combined an impressive .363 batting average with a team-leading 33 walks, resulting in a massive .483 on-base percentage. When she wasn't drawing walks, she was inflicting damage, tallying 12 home runs and 45 RBIs. Her ability to stay patient while maintaining a .664 slugging percentage made her one of the most difficult outs for any pitcher in the Southern Region.
Meaghan Trissell | 2nd-Team All-League (Infield)
Earning Second-Team honors, Meaghan Trissell provided a steady, high-average presence in the Storm's power-packed infield. Trissell was remarkably consistent throughout the 2026 campaign, finishing with a .407 batting average and a .481 on-base percentage. She proved to be a major run producer in clutch situations, driving in 49 RBIs and launching 9 home runs. Her ability to find the gaps (57 hits) and maintain a .636 slugging percentage ensured the Storm always had a scoring threat in the middle of the lineup.
Kylie Carapinha | 2nd-Team All-League (Catcher)
The general behind the plate, Kylie Carapinha secured Second-Team honors for her dual-threat capability as a catcher. Carapinha was a "gap-to-gap" specialist, leading the team with 19 doubles and 3 triples while batting an impressive .389. Her ability to turn singles into extra bases contributed to her .629 slugging percentage and 53 runs scored. Beyond her offensive output, Carapinha's leadership in the battery was instrumental in managing a pitching staff that secured 18 conference victories.
A Legacy Defined
Under the direction of Head Coach Chelsea Qualls, these four selections represent a landmark achievement for the program. The sheer volume of extra-base hits and high-average performances from this group propelled the Storm to a Top 10 national ranking in seven different offensive categories. Their success sets a new gold standard for the "Grace and Grind" culture at Chemeketa.
