Bio

Justin Sherwood has had a distinguished career in basketball, both as a player and a coach. Currently, he is in his first year leading the Chemeketa Storm women's basketball program. Before this role, Sherwood spent a decade as an assistant coach for the Storm men's team, contributing to their success with four NWAC Championship tournament appearances.

Sherwood's coaching career also includes a significant tenure as the head men's coach at Corban University from 2003 to 2013. During his time at Corban, he developed a strong program, coaching numerous standout players, including 10 All-Conference athletes, 15 NAIA Scholar Athletes, and three NAIA All-American selections. His leadership led the team to eight Cascade Conference Tournament appearances and one NAIA National Championship Tournament appearance. Notably, he guided the 2004-2005 team to achieve the school's only #1 NAIA National Ranking. His success at Corban earned him the third all-time spot in wins for the men's basketball program.

Sherwood's coaching journey began with assistant roles at George Fox College and Gladstone High School. As a student-athlete at Corban, he excelled in basketball, ranking in the top five for career records in seven categories, including third all-time in career scoring and steals. His accolades include first-team All-Conference honors, two NCCAA All-American team selections, and induction into the Corban Athletic Hall of Fame. His teams made three NAIA playoff appearances and two NCCAA National Championship tournament appearances.

In high school, Sherwood was a two-sport star in basketball and baseball, earning all-league honors in both sports. He played in the State Metro basketball game and was named McNary Senior Male Athlete of the Year. His high school teams made multiple state playoff appearances, including winning a State Baseball Championship, and were inducted into the McNary Athletic Hall of Fame.

Sherwood is passionate about coaching because it allows him to teach life skills through basketball and help student-athletes achieve their goals. He finds fulfillment in seeing individuals come together to form a successful team.
