Lower Columbia triumphs over Chemeketa with Power Hitting Display

On March 14, 2025, Lower Columbia showcased a powerful offensive performance against Chemeketa, securing a decisive 9-1 victory at Heerensperger Field. The game, which lasted just 1 hour and 41 minutes, was marked by Lower Columbia's impressive display of home runs and effective pitching.

Chemeketa started strong, with A. Wilsey scoring in the first inning off a double by C. Weaving, giving them an early 1-0 lead. However, this was the only run Chemeketa managed to score throughout the game, as Lower Columbia's defense and pitching shut them down for the remainder of the match.

Lower Columbia responded swiftly in the second inning. A. Baumgart hit a two-run homer, bringing J. Eder home and putting Lower Columbia ahead 2-1. S. Ancheta followed with a solo home run, extending the lead to 3-1. The third inning saw Lower Columbia's bats explode with three more home runs. H. Brooks hit a three-run homer, followed by solo shots from A. Baumgart and K. Mackin, pushing the score to 8-1. K. Swanson capped off the scoring with an RBI double, bringing D. Ambriz home and finalizing the score at 9-1.

Lower Columbia's pitching was equally impressive. J. Terry started on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits over three innings, while striking out one. C. Fake took over for the final two innings, not allowing a single hit and striking out two, effectively sealing the win.

Game 2

Lower Columbia set the tone early in the first inning with H. Brooks hitting a triple, driving in L. Grumbois for the first run. A sacrifice fly by A. Baumgart brought Brooks home, giving Lower Columbia a 2-0 lead. Chemeketa responded in the second inning with a three-run homer by J. Vermillio, briefly taking the lead at 3-2.

However, Lower Columbia quickly regained control in the bottom of the second inning. G. Silveria's two-run homer, which also brought in L. Mattison, shifted the momentum back to Lower Columbia, making it 4-3. The home team continued to extend their lead with consistent scoring in the subsequent innings.

In the third inning, E. Langsi's RBI single brought J. Eder home, increasing the lead to 5-3. The fourth inning saw J. Eder's double, which, combined with an error by Chemeketa's left fielder, allowed two more runs. S. Ancheta's RBI single further solidified Lower Columbia's dominance, bringing the score to 8-3.

The fifth inning sealed Chemeketa's fate as L. Grumbois hit a two-run homer, followed by A. Baumgart's groundout RBI, which brought the final score to 11-3.

Lower Columbia's robust batting lineup proved too much for Chemeketa, who struggled to regain their footing after the second inning. The game concluded in two hours, marking another win for Lower Columbia as they continue their impressive season.
