Mt. Hood triumphed over Chemeketa 14-3 in game one at Belmodis Field. The game, was highlighted by Mt. Hood's timely hitting and enhanced by 5 Chemeketa errors.
Mt. Hood wasted no time asserting their presence, with M. Zachary capitalizing on a passed ball to score the opening run in the first inning. The lead expanded in the second inning with Zachary again in the spotlight, driving in R. Wiseman with a single to make it 2-0.
The third inning proved pivotal as Mt. Hood exploded with a four-run spree. J. Lara and R. Wiseman maximized on errors made by Chemeketa, setting the stage for G. Hodgson's two-run homer, pushing the lead to 6-0.
Chemeketa managed to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third after a leadoff double by J. Rule then scored when J. vermillion, reached base first on an error, .
The fourth inning saw Mt. Hood unleash an offensive barrage, scoring eight additional runs. Highlights included G. Hodgson's second home run of the day and a series of strategic hits by M. Zachary, S. Hattori, and M. Walker. Chemeketa responded in their half, scoring two runs courtesy of A. Cavazos and R. Shumaker.
Pitching for Mt. Hood, G. Urban secured the win over four innings, despite allowing eight hits. Urban effectively struck out four batters, containing Chemeketa's aggression. M. Tovar then closed the game, ensuring no further runs were conceded.
Game two saw Mt. Hood continue with their hitting barrage, securing a dominant 15-2 victory.
The game began quietly with a scoreless first inning, but Mt. Hood exploded in the second inning with six runs, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Key contributions came from M. Walker and J. Barela, each hitting doubles that brought in crucial runs. The highlight of the inning was J. Lara's RBI single, which capped off the six-run spree.
Mt. Hood continued to display offensive strength in the third inning as pitcher K. Dunham hit a two-run home run, extending their lead to eight runs. Chemeketa managed to respond in the same inning with J. Rule's two-RBI single, scoring Mcka. Dodge and R. Shumaker, but it wasn't enough to halt Mt. Hood's momentum.
The fourth inning saw Mt. Hood furthering their lead with four more runs, including a significant three-RBI double from K. Crichton-. By the end of the inning, the scoreboard reflected a commanding 14-2 lead in favor of Mt. Hood.
The final touch came in the fifth inning with R. Wiseman hitting a solo home run, sealing the final score at 15-2.
After the rough outing the Storm will have a short time to regroup, with three doubleheaders schedule next week at home versus Centralia Monday 3/31/25, Clark on Wednesday 4/2/25, and Umpqua on Saturday 4/5/25.
