SALEM, Ore. – The Chemeketa Storm (13-4, 3-1) put on a defensive clinic Saturday afternoon, overwhelming the Mt. Hood Saints (2-15, 0-5) in a 73-46 victory at the Storm Center. From the opening tip, the Storm's intensity was unmatched, holding the Saints to just four points in the first quarter and never looking back.
Defensive Lockdown
The story of the game was Chemeketa's relentless pressure. The Storm forced a staggering 32 turnovers and swiped 18 steals over the course of the afternoon. Ella Holwege set the tone on the perimeter, recording a game-high five steals to go along with her 12 points.
The defensive effort allowed Chemeketa to play in transition and maintain a comfortable lead throughout all four quarters. By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Storm had held Mt. Hood to just 28.3% shooting from the field.
Rubio and Fullbright Lead the Charge
Offensively, the Storm were powered by a balanced attack and precision from the charity stripe.
