Storm Softball Earns Split At Clark
Storm softball bounces back from extra inning loss in game one to a dominate win in game two.
Chemeketa traveled to Clark and in game one were narrowly defeated 14-13 in extra innings.
The action was relentless from the first inning. Chemeketa started strong with J. Rule hitting a two-run homer, taking an early lead 2-0. Clark responded with G. Ventura securing an RBI, narrowing the gap to 2-1. The scoreboard continued to oscillate as Clark surged to a lead with a series of hits and a three-run homer by R. Purdom in the fifth, turning the tide at 8-5. Undeterred, Chemeketa mounted a fierce comeback in the sixth, with pivotal hits by J. Rule and Mcke. Dodge, reclaiming the lead at 9-8. In the bottom of the sixth Clark responded with a 2run single by P. Scoggin to retake teh lead with a score at 10-9. In the top of the 7th Chemeketa scored again when J. Rule drew a walk scoring L DeLoe, and A. Wilsey scored on a sacrifice fly by Mcke. Dodge retaking an 11-10 led. Clark responded in the bottom of the seventh with a run on a single by P. Bond to send the game into extra innings. Neither team was able to score in the eighth. Chemeketa drew first blood in the top of the 9th inning when A. Archuleta scored on an error. That was followed by a single by Mcke. Dodge scoring J. Rule giving Chemeketa a 13-11 lead. Clark responded in the bottom of the 9th scoring a run on a single by G. Ventura and followed that with a walk off double by L. Ferres that scored the tying and winning runs giving Clark the 14-13 win.
In game two Chemeketa soundly defeated Clark 17-0 in a swift five-inning game.
Chemeketa opened the scoring in the first inning, driving in three runs, including a two-RBI single by Mcke. Do2dge, setting the tone for the game. A series of precision hits and capitalized errors by Clark allowed Chemeketa to extend their lead to 7-0 by the end of the second inning, highlighted by a three-RBI triple from C. Weaving. The third inning saw J. Rule hit the first of two home runs, scoring three more runs and pushing the lead to 11-0. J Rule's outstanding performance continued in the fourth inning with another three-run homer. Chemeketa managed two more runs in the top of the 5th to complete the games scoring an securing a 17-0 win.
J. Rule also had a great game in the circle holding Clark to four hits with four strikeouts and no walks for the 5 innings.
On the day offensively there were a lot of contributors and highlights. The two most outstanding performances were from A. Archuleta who went 9 for 10 at the plate scoring 8 runs on the day. The second outstanding performance was J. Rule who was 7 for 9 hitting with 6 runs, 8 runs batted in, and 3 home runs on the day.
The Storm have qualified for the NWAC Championship Tournament starting on 5/15/25.
