Twenty and Counting: Chemeketa Reaches Milestone in Gresham Comeback
Defense Over Deep Balls: Storm Win Despite 1-for-15 Night from the Arc
Peak Performance: Storm Surge Past Mt. Hood for 20th Win
GRESHAM, Ore. — It wasn't always pretty, and the shots certainly weren't falling from deep, but the Chemeketa Storm (20-8, 10-5) found a way to grind out a 60-53 victory over the Mt. Hood Saints on Saturday. With the win, the Storm officially hit the 20-victory milestone, proving that even on an "off" shooting night, their defensive identity is enough to carry them home.
Trailing by five at the half, Chemeketa looked like a different team in the third quarter, flipping the script with a defensive masterclass that silenced the Yoshida Events Center crowd.
The Third Quarter Turnaround
The Storm entered the locker room at halftime down 29-24, struggling to find an answer for Mt. Hood's Brooklyn West, who was locked in from the perimeter. However, the second half belonged to Chemeketa. The Storm outscored the Saints 20-11 in the third frame, fueled by relentless ball pressure and a vintage performance from Patricia Mike.
Mike was the offensive engine for the Storm, finishing with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting. When the outside shots refused to fall (the team finished a cold 1-of-15 from three), Mike took matters into her own hands, attacking the paint and stabilizing the offense.
Defensive Dominance: The Turnover Game
If you look at the rebounding column, you'd wonder how the Storm walked away with a "W." Chemeketa was out-boarded 40 to 25, giving up significant second-chance opportunities. However, the Storm made up for the lack of glass-cleaning by turning the Saints over a staggering 28 times.
-
16 Steals: The Storm active hands were everywhere. Ava Rubio and Bethany Villegas combined for 6 steals, while Rubio also added 2 blocks to her defensive resume.
-
Point Guard Pressure: Rubio orchestrated the floor with 4 assists and 8 points, keeping the pace high even when the half-court set stalled.
Standout Performers
-
Patricia Mike: 18 points, 2 assists, 2 steals. The clear MVP of the night.
-
Mia Fullbright: Showed veteran poise by getting to the charity stripe, finishing with 9 points (7-of-8 FT) and 2 steals.
-
Bethany Villegas: Provided a massive spark off the bench with 9 points and 3 steals in just 14 minutes of action.
-
Ashley Barba: Was hyper-efficient, going 3-for-4 from the field for 6 points.
By The Numbers: Grit Over Glamour
The shooting splits tell a story of a team that won through sheer will rather than a hot hand.
| Statistic | Chemeketa Storm | Mt. Hood Saints |
| Field Goal % | 38.7% | 37.5% |

Closing the Deal
Despite Mt. Hood shooting nearly 50% from behind the arc, Chemeketa's ability to force mistakes and capitalize at the free-throw line proved to be the difference. The Storm held the Saints to just 24 total points in the second half, a testament to the conditioning and defensive discipline of this 20-win squad.
