Hard-Fought Quarterfinal Match Ends in Heartbreak for the Storm after Tremendous NWAC South Title Winning Season
**Highline Edges Out Chemeketa with Solid Defensive Performance**
In an exciting women's soccer match on November 8, 2025, at Capital Futbol Club, Highline emerged victorious against Chemeketa with a 2-1 win. The game, characterized by strong defensive plays and disciplined tactics, saw both teams showcasing their skills.
Highline took an early lead in the first half when defender Mia Mendoza found the back of the net in the 38th minute with an unassisted goal. This set the tone for Highline, who maintained their momentum into the second half. Just a few minutes after the halftime break, Catherine Orellana extended Highline's lead to 2-0, scoring in the 49th minute with an assist from forward Ramera Bradley.
Chemeketa responded in the latter stages of the match, with Evelyn Loibl scoring a lone goal for the team in the 85th minute. Despite their late efforts, Chemeketa couldn't overcome the deficit. The Highline defense, marshaled by goalkeeper Caitlyn McKenzie, held firm throughout the match. McKenzie made a total of seven saves from Chemeketa's 13 total shots, seven of which were on target.
Despite an aggressive approach, Chemeketa failed to capitalize on their offensive attempts, with Tatum Kiger and Avery Anunsen leading the efforts with five and two shots, respectively. However, their attempts could not penetrate Highline's sturdy defense beyond the singular goal.
Chemeketa faced disciplinary challenges, receiving three yellow cards during the match. Ximena Salmoran, Izabella Nanoski, and Alexa Galmichi were all cautioned in the second half, reflecting some of the game's tensions.
Throughout the match, Highline demonstrated clinical efficiency with their 18 shots, 11 of which were on goal, as they strategically outmaneuvered Chemeketa's defense. Chemeketa's goalkeeper, Ella Holwege, put in a commendable effort with nine saves despite the defensive shortcomings.
The match concluded with Highline securing a well-earned victory, reflecting their promising form and tactical discipline. This result further solidifies Highline's competitive edge in the season, while Chemeketa will be looking to tighten their defense and capitalize on scoring opportunities in future matches.
