**Mt. Hood Volleyball Triumphs Over Chemeketa in a Hard Fought Four-Set Battle**

In an enthralling matchup on Tuesday evening, the Mt. Hood volleyball team clinched a hard-earned victory over Chemeketa, securing a 3-1 win in a close four-set contest. The win, which unfolded at Mt. Hood Community College, gave Mt. Hood a much-needed morale boost as they improved to a 7-20 overall record with a 1-13 tally in their conference play.
Set one witnessed a neck-and-neck battle as both teams traded points fiercely. Despite Chemeketa's dynamic efforts, Mt. Hood edged out the visitors, finishing at 25-23. Chemeketa put up a stronger fight in the second set, pushing Mt. Hood to 28-26. However, the home team's resilience and strategic plays eventually allowed them to pull ahead.
As the match progressed, Mt. Hood dominated the third set with a decisive 25-17 win, showcasing their tactical prowess and an improved kill percentage of .267. Chemeketa strived to turn the tide during the fourth set but fell short, conceding the set 26-24.
Taylor Young was the standout performer for Mt. Hood, recording a commendable 18 kills with an impressive hitting percentage of .351. Young's contribution was pivotal in their victory, further aided by solid support from Jasmine McDonald and Hannah Laursen, who added 12 and 14 kills, respectively. The trio's offensive power was complemented by Lilly Leyva's 27 assists and the team's defensive efforts led by Keily Lutgens' 18 digs.
For Chemeketa, Taylin Wright and Iana Benevides (Pictured - 11) stood out with 12 and 14 kills, respectively, but struggled against Mt. Hood's formidable defense. Sierra Summer faced challenges with a hitting percentage of -.286, reflecting the pressure mounted by the Mt. Hood blockers.
Overall, Mt. Hood outperformed Chemeketa with a more effective attack, posting a hitting percentage of .195 compared to Chemeketa's .138. The home team's cohesive strategy, marked by better execution and fewer errors, underscored their path to victory.
